AM4. Royal Air Force Edition : quarter-inch maps
Heading in purple : For Official Use Only : Royal Air Force Edition.
It is unusual to have these maps with the full margins and heading.

On the same sheet lines as the Ordnance Survey quarter-inch Third Edition maps, with purple layering designed for use in low light planes. Cloth backed.

Each map has the War Office Cassini grid in purple and is overprinted with red aeronautical symbols showing information useful to pilots (aerodromes, airports, air lights, prohibited areas, golf courses etc.)

1. Sheet 9, Eastern Counties (S.), 1932, 10225.37. Air information correct to 18-6-37. Good clean condition, £18.

2. Sheet 12, England South, 1928, 2800/36. Air information correct to 12-3-36. Good clean condition, very small holes at fold intersections, but overall a nice bright copy, £18.

AM3. Map of areas dangerous to flight
A 1:1,000,000 grey base map of the United Kingdom, with dangerous areas marked in red. Numbers show the maximum danger height in thousands of feet, letters indicate range practice, captive balloons and Portland and Portsmouth naval exercise areas.

AM2. Collection of overseas aviation maps
A collection of maps from seven different areas dating from 1932-1945.
All maps are coloured and in good clean condition unless noted.

Australia
1:100,000 strip maps. Paper folded.
Sheet 4, Melbourne to Sydney. August 1938.
Sheet 5, Melbourne to Adelaide. July 1939, Amended July 1941.

Both maps show aerodromes, landing grounds, railway lines, communication stations, radio range.

Denmark and Sweden
1:400,000. No date, 1930s?
Cover title : Copenhagen-Stockholm.

Topographic strip map with professionally drawn aviation details such as Danger areas, Landing grounds and routes. Dissected and mounted in blue Stanford covers. Waterproofed by Stanford's 'LUTRA' process.

Italy (Northern)
1:500,000. Magnetic variation 1933.
Cover title : Italy.

Topographic strip map with professionally drawn aviation details. Dissected and mounted in blue Stanford covers. Waterproofed by Stanford's 'LUTRA' process. Some damage and detail missing from 4 of the 24 panels, but still a nice example. Large areas are marked 'Prohibited area' with 'air corridors' through them.

New Zealand
1" to 8 miles. Set of 6 maps. Air information correct to 1940-1942.

Usual aviation information is given. Folded in pink covers. All maps are quite sound, but have light damp stains. Covers have a coarse cloth outer which is coming away at the edges.

Netherlands
Cover title : Rotterdamsche Aero club : Antwerpen-Totterdam=Kooij. 1932.

Topographic strip map with professionally drawn aviation details. Dissected and mounted in a style similar to that produced by Stanford, with a waterproofing process similar to Stanford's 'LUTRA' process.

Southern Rhodesia
1:100,000. Aeronautical Edition.

Sheet 7, Gwelo sheet. Air information correct to 1942. Usual aviation information is given. Green card covers. Well used with folds rubbed and splitting at cover hinges.

Sheet 8, Bulawayo sheet. Air information correct to 1942. Usual aviation information is given. Green card covers. Good condition.

Europe
Cover title : Code AF Foldex No.1. Europe (Air) 1/500,000.

An elaborately folded map of Northern Europe in excellent condition. Covers : Yarmouth, Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, Strasbourg, Munich.
Three laminated strip maps, each concertinaed and mounted above each other with a small overlap for easy use. Stiff buff card cover.
Printed and produced at the Ordnance Survey, 1945.
