David and Charles : One-inch Old Series maps

Ordnance Survey one-inch Old Series maps
The first Ordnance Survey one-inch map was published in 1801. Starting in the south of England, sheets for the whole of England and Wales were available by the early 1870s. These are now known as the Old Series and have been reproduced by several publishers, David and Charles being one of them.

Each folded black and white map is roughly 2' by 3' when open. Late states of each sheet were chosen for reproduction in order to show some of the great changes that had occurred during the nineteenth century, not least the expansion of railways and major towns.

Each sheet has an introductory essay by Brian Harley describing how it developed, and the major changes shown.

We have the following sheets in stock. All maps are in nice bright clean condition, £7 each plus postage at cost.
