Scotland : One-inch Third Edition : Outline edition with contemporary hand-colouring
A 'set' of the mainland sheets, numbers 1 to 117 inclusive, dissected on cloth and held within three leather cases, all in excellent bright condition.
All sheets have contemporary hand colouring of county boundaries, green woods, blue water and red railways, making the original black and white maps very attractive.
Maps are held within three grey leather cases, each measuring 9" x 9.5" x 8", with gilt lettering to the top surface of each case. The leather appears to be of a quite thick 'skin', possibly elephant or rhino. Each case has a series index sheet plus the maps.
Case titles (in gilt)
Ordnance Survey of Scotland / One inch scale / Sheets 1 to 39
Ordnance Survey of Scotland / One inch scale / Sheets 40 to 78
Ordnance Survey of Scotland / One inch scale / Sheets 79 to 117
Maps for the Shetland Islands and a full Orkney Island set are often lacking from Scottish 'sets', hence this set ends with sheet 117. Case two contains sheets 42 and 50 as a single combined sheet as issued, and both sheet 57 and sheet 57A, as issued.
Sheets 1 to 117 and 57A.
A beautiful set of maps in wonderful condition, £3,200.
